Alternate Level of Care Co-Payment

Guelph General Hospital is an acute care hospital.

When you were first admitted to Guelph General Hospital you required acute medical care and you were considered to be an “Acute” patient. Your patient status changed to alternate level of care (ALC) when your health improved to a point where you no longer required acute medical care and you are waiting to be transferred to another health care facility such as Complex Continuing Care or Long Term Care.

The Ministry of Health and Long Term Care supports acute care facilities charging a daily co-payment fee for patients waiting for a bed in a complex continuing care or long term care home.

The fee is based on your monthly income and assists to help cover the cost of accommodation and meals. For more information about co-payments click here.
