Brian Cowan, BES, MBA, C.Dir

Brian Cowan is semi-retired and is currently active consulting in the areas of corporate governance and strategic planning along with helping start-up enterprises succeed after spending 17 years with Teranet Inc. – one of Ontario’s most successful public private partnerships with government where he was responsible for Marketing, Business Development, Program Development, Communications and Government Relations. During this time, Brian also served as President and Chief Operating Officer of one of Teranet’s subsidiaries. Prior to Teranet, Brian was an executive with Intergraph Corp. in Canada and the Netherlands.

Brian is active in the community and as a corporate director for more than 20 years having served as Chair of the Waterloo-Wellington Community Care Access Centre, Vice-Chair of Guelph Hydro and its subsidiary companies; Envida Community Energy Inc. and Selectpower; Vice Chair of Atria Networks Inc., a member of the Puslinch Planning Advisory Committee, Chair of Curl Ontario and Past President of the Rotary Club of Guelph South. He currently serves as Vice-Chair at Cutten Fields, Corporate Secretary of Value Connect Inc., is a mentor with Waterloo Wellington Community Futures Development Corp., a mentor and selection committee member with the Loren Scholars Foundation and a faculty member of the Directors College.

Brian joined the Board of Guelph General Hospital in 2017 and is currently a member of its Governance and Nominations Committees.
