Rena Hubers

Rena recently retired from a 34-year career with the Ontario government and brings experience as a proven public sector leader who was able to effect change, manage risk and get things done.

She spent over 25 years in the area of food safety policy and food inspection systems that included responsibilities with the Ontario Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs as the Director of the Food Inspection Branch. She was accountable for the delivery of provincial food inspection programs for meat, dairy, and foods of plant origin.

Also in her role as the Chief Administrative Officer and Assistant Deputy Minister of Research and Corporate Services Division she was accountable for $1.1 billion annual Ministry budget and 175 division staff and provided strategic leadership, planning and delivery of core businesses in: financial management and business planning, Human Resource and labour relations, emergency management and business continuity and agriculture, food and rural research through funding and transfer payments with various partners.

Rena joined the Guelph General Hospital Board in March 2017 and is a member of the Quality Committee.
