COVID-19 and GGH

In consultation with Wellington Dufferin Guelph Public Health, Guelph General Hospital has declared a COVID-19 outbreak on its 7 East unit after two patients acquired COVID while in hospital. Click here to learn more.

If your concern is non-urgent please see a list of your alternative care options here.

Masking:

  • Our staff, patients, families, caregivers, and volunteers are required to wear a mask in clinical areas. This would include such spaces as the Emergency Department, nursing station, waiting rooms, and in patient rooms.
  • Masks are not required in non-clinical areas. This would include such spaces as hallways, meeting rooms, breakrooms, and shared offices.
  • Masking stations are available at the entrances to our facilities as well as nursing stations. There are also collection bins at various locations across the hospital where you can discard disposable masks as part of our green, waste diversion initiative.

Visiting:

Information about parking at Guelph General Hospital can be found here.

Do not visit a loved one at the hospital if you have any symptoms of COVID-19.

The hospital is allowing patients to have an unlimited number of visitors but only two at a time at the bedside. There are additional exceptions and restrictions depending on a patient’s status. For example, COVID-19 positive patients are not allowed visitors.

If planning to visit and not sure if it is allowed, please call the hospital and ask to speak with the patient’s unit.

Please note, our Family Birthing Unit/Paediatrics has its own set of visitor rules (below).

FBU Post PartumTwo visitors at a time, no children under 12 years of age.
