Starting with the positive…
Five lucky employees are going home with gifts that have been donated to support staff. The names were picked from a list of all staff who worked in the last two weeks using an online ‘random number generator.’ Then, the random number generator was used again to determine who got which prize. Winners have been notified and can pick their prize up at the Foundation office.

Virtual Visiting now up and running
We know our current visitor restrictions while necessary are challenging for patients and their family members. To help reduce the sense of isolation, we have launched a new “Virtual Visiting Program” using tablets and platforms such as Zoom. A special thank you to Fusion Homes for the generous donation of 20 tablets to make these virtual visits possible. We have seen firsthand how reassuring it is for patients to connect to their support network this way.
Much gratitude to the team involved in developing the training materials and overseeing the launch of this new service. Thanks also to our Nurses, Patient Relations staff and Social Workers who facilitate Zoom video calls. Post pandemic, we plan to continue virtual visits to help our patients and their loved ones stay connected.
3 East begins ramping down
As part of our preparations for our reintroduction of surgical and procedural programs, we are beginning to decrease admissions to our “3 East” medicine unit and plan to reabsorb the remaining patients into our medical units.
We would like to extend our thanks to all of the staff that have supported our ALC patients in the Day Surgery Unit over the past two months. During this time, our patients have received excellent care and clinical outcomes as a result of the teamwork and compassion provided by the entire team.
