Paediatricians – full time

GGH is a fully accredited hospital with exemplary standing. It has approximately 1,700 births per year. We have a level 2a Special Care Nursery (10 beds), a paediatric ward (8 beds) and paediatric day surgery. Renovated and redesigned Special Care Nursery will be completed as of April 2022. On call physicians are expected to take consults from the emergency department, obstetricians, midwives and community physicians. Paediatricians admit patients when required and attend at risk deliveries with SCN nurse and RT. Staff also participate in Grand Rounds (Royal College accredited), teaching and quality improvement committees. We are also affiliated with McMaster University.

Guelph is constantly ranked as one of Canada’s best places to live.  GGH is also a 20–40-minute drive from Hamilton and the Halton region with minimal traffic. Private on call rooms (bed, desk, TV, bathroom, fridge, microwave) are provided for physicians who wish to stay at the hospital.

Payment is fee-for-service and a hospital on call stipend, with an added incentive for weekend and holiday calls. Paediatricians participate in a service model. Full time staff will be required to complete 4-5 evening/overnight call including 24h weekend call, as well as 6-7 weeks of service per year.

There is also clinic space across from Guelph General Hospital for paediatricians hoping to set practice in Guelph.
